We're On Safari

Jeep Safari that is!

Recently, Mark and I got an opportunity to ride along on a local jeep tour. This was an appreciation tour given by the Moab4Wheelers group for the people who work in the local businesses that help support them. Because we are workcamping here in Moab, we were invited to join them. Honestly, I think anyone who showed up was encouraged to join in...these folks just really love to get out and climb rocks in their jeeps and 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Our tour guides were a brother and sister, Sherry and David. David is a professional tour guide and he was teaching his sister to driver jeeps off road. I thought I might be a little nervous being her first passengers, but she was good at driving and we had a great time. This a picture of Sherry, which was taken when we stopped for lunch. You'll have to overlook the slight smudge in some of these pictures...I was holding Sherry's little dog during part of the ride and his nose and my camera lens must have made contact at some point!

One of the things I thought was really great was this tour company that had gone to the local retirement home and offered free rides to any of the senior citizens who were willing and able to go. Surprisingly, there were quite a lot of them who came along and they all seemed to have such a good time. I counted at least three huge Humvees filled with mostly senior citizens.

I mentioned we stopped for lunch, which was provided by the Moab4Wheeler's group. Here's a picture that shows just how many folks showed up to go on this tour. The four people on the extreme right are the couple who are staying next to us and are also workcampers (Jim and Yevette) and then Mark and me. Even though it was a pretty cool day, it was beautiful and we all had a great time.

The following pictures are just some others I took while on the tour and wanted to share.
